Alicia Hardin takes a gun to chapel

April 21, 2005

Alicia Hardin's parents sent her to Trinity International College, a small Christian school outside Chicago, and she found the place horribly boring. She wanted to go someplace else. Her parents said no. She was bored, and wanted out. Her parents said no.

Maybe they sensed that their daughter needed Christian influence.

At her wits end, Alicia did what any red-blooded American girl would do, she started sending anonymous racist threats to fellow students, putting the Christian campus into an uproar of paranoia and shame. She thought if she made her parents think the campus was dangerous, they'd change their minds.

There's a name for people who are completely insensitive to causing immense pain to others for the tiniest of benefit to themselves. They're called sociopaths:
"Someone whose social behavior is extremely abnormal. Sociopaths are interested only in their personal needs and desires, without concern for the effects of their behavior on others." - American Heritage® New Dictionary of Cultural Literacy
She sent three threatening notes filled with racist slurs, two to black students and then a third one to a Hispanic student. This third note (on April 21) said, ominously, "I saw you in chapel... I had my gun in my pocket, but I wouldn't shoot," which sent the college administrators into such a tizzy that they bused all of the undergraduate minority students to an off-campus hotel. Where they'd be safe.

Since the exodus included Alicia, you can see the futility of that exercise.

After thinking about it for a minute, the college decided they hadn't done enough, and came back with their buses to get the graduate minority students, too. That left the apparently worthless who-cares-about-their-sorry-asses white students on campus with an unidentified nascent serial killer. The poor schmucks probably spent their days skulking from bush to bush looking for snipers and men named Jason wearing ski masks.

Meanwhile, splashing around in the hotel pool, watching hotel television, and hanging out with a building chock full of fellow students with no homework, Alicia probably started thinking Trinity College wasn't so boring.

But you know how this ends. Police deduced that the perpetrator had to be a Trinity student, and when tips came in from other students pointing the finger at Alicia, her caper was finished. She ended up confessing to creating a bogus hate crime wave to convince her parents to send her to a different college.

Who knows where Alicia Hardin went to college next. Hopefully a place that accepts nutbag sociopathic creeps... maybe her parents sent her to Ohio State.
